Bahrain Grand Prix called off for now

Officials at the Sakhir International Circuit have announced that the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix has been cancelled as a result of the current political unrest in the country. With the statement having come from the country’s Royal family, the final pre-season Formula 1 test session has also been called off. Massa finish Barcelona on top - Barcelona day four

Ferrari signed off from the test at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya with a flourish on Monday. Felipe Massa’s best lap, a 1m 22.625s, was the fastest time of the four-day session at the Spanish circuit and almost four seconds quicker than the Brazilian’s quickest lap on Sunday.

Rosberg puts Mercedes on top - Barcelona Day three

Nico Rosberg put Mercedes GP top of the timesheets in Spain on Sunday, as testing continued at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya. With the track wet in the morning and dry in the afternoon, Rosberg finished three-tenths up on Renault’s Vitaly Petrov, with Lewis Hamilton third for McLaren.

After setting the quickest time as testing continued in Spain on Friday, World Champion Sebastian Vettel retained the top spot as weekend running began. Behind the Red Bull driver, Spaniards Jaime Alguersuari and Fernando Alonso again made the top three.

A late run from reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel was enough to prevent local hero Fernando Alonso topping the times in Friday’s opening day of testing at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya. Vettel lapped his Red Bull just under a second quicker than Alonso’s Ferrari.

M-Sport Stobart Ford’s Mads Østberg is currently leading Rally Sweden after a fairytale start at the 2011 FIA World Rally Championship season-opener.

Block will run a revised livery on his Fiesta RS WRC this season, which will be launched by video before Rally Sweden gets underway in Karlstad on Thursday evening. The new identity was blurred out in footage of Block’s initial testing.
